Here's the NLBMDA's 2016 National Policy Agenda
The National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA) released its 2016 National Policy Agenda in anticipation of its Spring Meeting in April.
"NLBMDA stands ready to work with policymakers on job creation and sound fiscal policies that support a healthy housing market," said NLBMDA chair Scott Yates, president and general manager of Denver Lumber Company in Denver, Colorado. "The 2016 National Policy Agenda provides a framework for streamlining government regulations, reducing abusive lawsuits, and maintaining workforce flexibility needed for sustained economic growth."
This year's agenda touches on housing & construction policy; tax & economic policy; legal reform & consumer protection; workforce policy; environment, health, & safety; product supply & trade; energy policy; transportation policy; and highway safety.
Unfair lawsuits and healthcare costs are particular focus points, as are overtime regulations.
"NLBMDA is dedicated to protecting the interests of the lumber and building material industry and will continue its work with Congress and the Obama Administration to reduce burdensome regulations, promote responsible economic policies, and continue advancing the housing recovery," said NLBMDA president and CEO Jonathan Paine.
The 2016 National Policy Agenda will be distributed to members of Congress and key Administration officials and will be used by NLBMDA members when they visit their elected representatives during the NLBMDA Spring Meeting and Legislative Conference on April 18-20 in Washington, D.C.
