Halco recalls LED bulbs over burn hazards

2/20/2018

Norcross, Georgia-based Halco Lighting Technologies is recalling about 9,500 of its ProLED bulbs after receiving reports of potential overheating and falling hazards.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, there were five reports of the bulbs separating from the sockets, and the bulbs have a tendency to overheat and fall on consumers below. No injuries have been reported, however.

The bulbs in question are used in recessed lights, as outdoor security lighting and in retail displays.  They come in 14 or 18-watt styles and have a metal cone-shaped housing.

The Chinese-manufactured bulbs were sold at lighting retailers and distributors in the U.S. between June 2009 and March 2014.

The model numbers included in the recall are listed on the CPSC website.
