Golden Hammer Profile: Fluidmaster

2/20/2018

It wouldn't be entirely accurate to describe Fluidmaster as a company that manufactures toilet tank parts.

As David McFarland, director marketing for the San Juan Capistrano, California-based company explained to HCN, the company's commitment to giving back is so integral to its identity, it chose a heart-shaped logo.

"In 1957, our founder Adolf Schoepe had a vision for a better, more efficient toilet fill valve and a desire to build a business the right way; by providing the best product for the customer’s dollar, the best jobs for employees based on their contributions to the company, and by being a good citizen in the community," he said.

Its extensive list of corporate giving beneficiaries includes numerous local youth programs, the Special Olympics, Make-A-Wish Foundation, American Cancer Society, March of Dimes, Engineers Without Borders and more.

But enough about the charity -- the product is just as noteworthy.

Fluidmaster sells more than 72 million toilet repair parts each year, with a global distribution network that reaches more than 80% of the world's population.

In addition, it's tackling big issues in its field: the imminent rise of touchless flush technology, as well as high-efficiency and dual-flush options that aim to reduce water use. A Flush 'N Sparkle system, which automatically adds cleaning solution to the bowl with each flush, is a nice touch for customers who want the cleaning to take care of itself.

As a result of all of these things and more, Fluidmaster took home the Golden Hammer award in the Plumbing Supplies and Equipment category this year.

The above is one of a series of profiles recognizing this year's Golden Hammer Vendor winners, to appear on HomeChannelNews.com and in HCN Daily. Thirty-one Golden Hammer Vendor winners were honored this year at the 2014 National Hardware Show in Las Vegas.
