GAF starts production of Cornell insulation panels

2/20/2018

GAF's Statesboro, Georgia, manufacturing facility has turned the levers to "on" in the production of Cornell ThermaCal Nail Base Roof Insulation Panels.

“Now, structures with cathedral ceilings, such as churches, institutions, schools, and other commercial properties with steep-slope roofs benefit from both the insulation and ventilation properties, while remaining aesthetically pleasing from an architectural and design standpoint," said Jeff Avitabile, senior product manager at GAF. "The Cornell ThermaCal brand is well known in the industry as the premium nail base roof insulation product and we see the ThermaCal products as a perfect fit in GAF’s line of premium steep-slope roofing products.”

GAF originally purchased the operating assets of Cornell Corporation in December 2013, marking the company's entry into the ventilated nail base market.

The ThermaCal brand has earned a reputation for its ability to insulate structures with cathedral ceilings using nail base roof insulation. Additionally, it provides a pre-attached substrate that overlying roof coverings could be fastened to.

The ventilated version of ThermaCal panels insulates and ventilates at the same time, allowing excess moisture to escape before it can condense in the deck or roofing system.
