DeWalt gets into battery-powered OPE
DeWalt is releasing its first-ever battery-powered outdoor power tools this spring, featuring a lineup that includes two brushless string trimmers, two brushless blowers and a hedge trimmer, all with 40V MAX lithium ion batteries.
"DeWalt has entered the outdoor equipment category because it can deliver the convenience of cordless with the performance of gas," said Jola Wodka, senior product manager of DeWalt Outdoor. "DeWalt 40V MAX Cordless Outdoor Tools answer the call for power, runtime and durability -- the same performance expected of all DeWalt tools. Engineered for lawn care professionals, DeWalt cordless outdoor tools provide a solution for gas-free performance and low noise."
The tools all have a low noise output and are built with an impact-resistant Xenoy housing.
The 40V MAX Brushless String Trimmer comes with the option of either the 4.0Ah Lithium Ion battery or the 6.0Ah Lithium Ion battery. Other features include a 15-in. cut swath, dual-line bump feed head and a gear drive design for added torque.
Meanwhile, the 40V MAX Brushless Blower can also come with either a 4.0Ah or a 6.0Ah battery. It boasts up to 400 CFM of air volume and 120 MPH, as well as a variable speed trigger and a speed lock that allows the user to continue use without holding the trigger down. Its curved tube design creates rotational control for reduced arm fatigue -- an ergonomic handle helps round out its user-friendly credentials.
The 40V MAX 4.0Ah Hedge Trimmer features a friction clutch, hardened steel blades, a removable gear case cover and top cover, and a wraparound auxiliary handle for a comfortable grip in various positions.
