Craftsman's MAKEcation coming to Brooklyn this fall

2/20/2018

Craftsman is bringing its annual MAKEcation event to Brooklyn, New York, this September, offering a chance to win a "making vacation" for an innovative getaway.

"The Craftsman MAKEcation event is not just about what you learn -- it's a place where you can network and rub elbows with some of the most badass tool gurus out there," said James Maclachlan, Craftsman Club member and 2014 event attendee. "I feel lucky that I was a part of the inaugural event and can only imagine what the Craftsman brand has in store."

Starting now through July 31, Craftsman Club and Shop Your Way members will be able to enter the contest via the Craftsman website.

Winners will get to spend a weekend in a warehouse where they'll have a chance to experiment with materials and create tools.

They'll also get an exclusive first look at the newest Craftsman products, as well as a chance to visit the World Maker Faire.

This year, Craftsman will also be doing things slightly differently by expanding its pool of potential candidates.

"The Craftsman brand embodies our drive to make," said Ryan Ostrom, chief marketing officer. "At our inaugural 2014 Craftsman MAKEcation event, we celebrated creators from all walks of life -- whether they were blacksmiths, woodworkers or even famous musicians. This year, we're kicking the action up a notch by drawing from an even bigger pool of world-renowned innovators and taking the program to Brooklyn, which is a true maker's mecca."

The MAKEcation event is taking place in Brooklyn from Sept. 24 through 27.
