CPSC recalls orbital sanders

Random orbital sanders that might short circuit and cause a fire are being recalled by Mirka Abrasives.

This recall involves 5-in. and 6-in. Mirka CEROS compact electric random orbital sanders. The sanders are yellow and black with the Mirka logo on the front.

Mirka Abrasives has received three reports of electrical shorting incidents, which included the sanders sparking and smoking.

No injuries or property damage have been reported.

About 440 of the units were sold in the United States and 85 in Canada. Products were sold at barious distributors and independent retailers nationwide and at Amazon.com, Beavertools.com and other online retailers from November 2013 to April 2014 for about $500.
