CPSC announces spate of chair recalls
It was a rough few days for foreign chair manufacturers.
The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission announced no fewer than four chair-related recalls over a five day stretch at the end of January.
Chairs sold at Home Depot, Lowe’s and Sears.com are being recalled for posing fall hazards. Beach chairs sold at IKEA carry an additional hazard: “beach chairs can collapse, posing fall and fingertip amputation hazards.
The CPSC cites six incidents of fingertip amputations related to the beach chair.
The IKEA product was manufactured in Bosnia and Herzegovina, while the other three chairs facing recalls were each made in China.
