BuildDirect launches plans to disrupt

2/20/2018

Another home improvement company is claiming for itself the title of "industry disrupter."

Vancouver, British Columbia-based technology company BuildDirect launched its online platform, Home Marketplace, "to disrupt the $500 billion home improvement industry," the company said in an announcement.

Home Marketplace is designed to provide a seamless renovation experience by assisting homeowners at each stage of their remodel -- from planning and design, to selection of products, through home delivery. For suppliers, the platform provides a direct link to consumers, allowing them to connect the right goods with demand in a highly efficient manner, according to the company.

Home Marketplace's features begin with a seller portal. This self-service tool helps suppliers showcase products to homeowners "without the use of a major retailer," the company said.

The platform also claims to integrate proprietary predictive analytics to provide real time, forward-looking data to sellers. The models allow suppliers to identify consumer interest in their product, that products’ competitiveness in the marketplace and the locations with the most demand for that product.

“The $500 billion home improvement industry has been lacking innovation for too long, but today as Home Marketplace officially launches, BuildDirect can perfectly showcase our vision for change,” said BuildDirect co-founder, president & CEO, Jeff Booth. “Home Marketplace marks an important milestone in our mission to create the world’s simplest and most trusted solution for home improvement. We are delighted to make it available to millions of homeowners and suppliers.”
