Breez rides air-quality movement
Indoor air quality is an increasingly interesting topic for home owners, as well as regulators who write building codes.
The trend offers reasons for optimism at Breez Ventilation Systems, which believes its lineup of low-noise, high efficiency, direct-current fans are poised for growth.
“We're offering what consumers are looking for, and also what codes are requiring for new construction,” said Rita Carbone-Lawson, national sales manager for Breez Ventilation Products.
A DC motor provides several advantages she says. First, it requires less energy to operate, as little as 8 watts, according to the company. The Breez fans received a 2016 Energy Star Partner of the Year Award, for energy efficiency.
Second, the Breez fans operate with very little noise. As a point of comparison, a normal refrigerator operates at 1.0 sones, the measure of noise. A Breez fan will run at a mere 0.3 sones, she said
Also, a DC-motor lasts longer, she says. That makes it ideal to cope with building codes, especially in those states and municipalities that require continuous-running fans.
Breez is s a division of Delta Electronics, a multi-billion-dollar manufacturing company, with holdings in areas including industrial automation, LED lighting, embedded power supplies and many others. It counts Apple as one of its largest customers.
