Weyerhaeuser triples size of Virginia DC

Weyerhaeuser has added 70,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space to its Richmond, Va., distribution center, tripling the facility’s inside storage.


The company will use the space to support distribution of additional third-party products, including vendor managed inventory (VMI) of more than 150 SKUs of James Hardie siding and trim products, as well as 100 SKUs of cedar decking, landscaping, siding and trim. Weyerhaeuser also anticipates supplying will supply pine flooring from Trout River Lumber. Additionally, the company will be hiring more people at the facility in both operations and sales positions, and is expanding its delivery fleet size. These actions are intended to provide enhanced service to customers in Virginia, eastern West Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina. 


Jeff Waterhouse, Weyerhaeuser area general manager, said the additional investment in people, products and facilities underscores the company’s commitment to dealers in the Mid-Atlantic region. “It all comes down to helping our customers be more successful, providing them with the products they need on time and in full, along with support services to grow their business,” he said.


Headquartered in Federal Way, Wash., Weyerhaeuser is one of the largest building material distributors in the nation. The company operates 30 distribution facilities throughout the United States, offering construction and finishing materials ranging from manufactured structural framing, engineered wood, solid sawn lumber, plywood, oriented strand board (OSB), siding, trim, insulation, housewrap, decking, cultured stone and steel concrete reinforcing.
