Versatex Max extends to 2x4 and 2x6

Versatex has extended its “2-by” Versatex Max system to include 2x4 and 2x6 sizes. 

The architectural trim product line made its debut early this year with a 11/2-in.-thick, 48-in. wide sheet — 1/4-in. thicker than competing extruded PVC  products. In response to fabricator requests for dimensionally compatible materials to reduce cutting and handling operations, Versatex developed nominal 2x8, 2x10 and 2x12 boards.

“With the addition of our 2x4s and 2x6s, the industry finally has access to a complete system of 11/2-in. trim board material,” Versatex president John Pace said. “Our customers in the field are already reporting gains in productivity, along with reductions in costs associated with handling, fabrication time and scrap.”

According to Rick Kapres, VP sales, at Versatex: “Wooden 2-bys are still the basic building blocks of the housing industry. Now, if you’re making fabricated items like laminated pergola beams, custom mouldings, window surrounds, corbels or spindles, you can take advantage of PVC’s stability and weather-resistance without the hassle of reconciling ‘PVC sizes’ with standard lumber sizes. And with Versatex Max boards, you’re starting with clean, dimensionally accurate edges and true, 90-degree angles.”

The product will be available from distributors nationwide starting in mid-December. Initially, all boards will be supplied in 12-ft. and18-ft. lengths, with the Versatex smooth-matte finish.
