USG sets sights on Chicago's South Side

2/20/2018

USG Building Products is pitching in to help children and families in Chicago's South Side neighborhood, joining other companies and organizations at the American Institute of Architects' annual conference.

The effort will see AEC Cares, USG, Metropolitan Family Services of Chicago, Reed Construction Data and Hanley Wood join together to renovate a 30-year-old building in the neighborhood where many local infants, toddlers and preschoolers go for daycare and early learning.

Dubbed "projectChicago," the building blitz will employ ceiling tiles and other building materials from USG, the time of its employee volunteers, as well as a $10,000 donation from the company.

“USG is proud to support AEC Cares’ projectChicago and do our part to help make a difference in the lives of children living in Chicago and their families,” said Brian Cook, SVP human resources and communications, USG Corporation; and president, USG Foundation. “The fact that this event will assist communities that are neighbors to USG’s headquarters makes it that much more special for us.”
