Twister damages sign at 84 Lumber headquarters

2/20/2018

Two tornadoes touched down in the Pittsburgh area Sept. 17, one of them sweeping away the giant 84 Lumber sign on Route 519, according to an article in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

The National Weather Service determined that a tornado with 80 to 85 mph winds traveled through Eighty Four, Pa., the headquarters of pro dealer 84 Lumber, between 3:57 and 4 p.m. Trees were uprooted, a car was overturned, and several small businesses were damaged. No one was injured.

The 84 Lumber sign was knocked down, but none of the damage blocked the roadway, according to authorities.
