Stimson Lumber fined $5,000 after accident

2/20/2018

According to an article in the Oregonian, the Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Administration fined Stimson Lumber $5,000 for infractions related to a fatal accident in May.

Oregon's OSHA said the Portland-based forest products company didn't adequately train an employee who died from a hydraulic-equipment explosion.

The fatal accident took place in May at the forest product company's mill in Gaston, Ore. A hydraulic accumulator machine exploded, killing one worker -- Steve Allen -- and injuring two other employees. The newspaper reported that the company will not seek to appeal the OSHA decision.
