NLBMDA to provide legislative and regulatory updates
The National Lumber and Building Materials Dealers Association will provide members with a Legislative Update Webinar regarding the latest issues impacting dealers in Washington, D.C.
The Nov. 30 webinar will be led by Ben Gann, NLBMDA’s vice president of legislative and political affairs.
Topics on the agenda include tax reform and what it means for dealers, updates on the Canadian softwood lumber dispute, and political analysis of upcoming elections. Dealers can also suggest topics for the discussion.
Participants can register for the webinar here.
Separately, the NLBMDA’s Washington Regulatory Update Webinar will be held on Dec. 7 and look at key regulatory issues affecting dealers, including those currently in place and those pending. The webinar will be led by Frank Moore, NLBMDA’s regulatory counsel, and participants will have any opportunity to ask questions during the presentation.
The webinar will look at recent Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration rules such as those affecting hours of service recording and review key compliance elements for cargo securement and other known sources of roadside inspection citations. OSHA standards will also be reviewed with an eye towards those standards most cited in LBM yards during inspections and recent developments, such as an employer’s responsibility in reporting work-related injury and illnesses, the federal court ruling against the Overtime Rule, and prospects for a new rulemaking on crane operator certification.
The webinar will also review the recent federal court ruling in Fuchs v Menards, Inc. on how dealers market and label dimensional lumber.
