Hitachi Koki recalls pneumatic nailers

2/20/2018

Norcross, Georgia-based Hitachi Koki is recalling its Pneumatic Nailer over an injury hazard, citing a tendency for the nailer to jam and override the safety switch that keeps more than one nail from firing at a time.

The affected products bear the model numbers NR83A2(Y) and NR83A3, which are printed on a label on the side of the nailer and the outside of the box. Units with a letter "R" decal next to the model number (as well as an engraved "R" near the serial number) are not included in the recall.

They were sold at independent home improvement and building supply stores (as well as online at Amazon.com, HomeDepot.com, Lowes.com, Walmart.com and Grainger.com) between May 2012 and M

Consumers are advised to immediately discontinue use and to contact Hitachi Koki U.S.A. for instructions on how to return the product for a free repair.

The recall affects about 25,000 units in the United States and 300 in Canada. At the time, no incidents or injuries have been reported.
