Freedom Materials opens new distribution yard

Savage, Maryland-based Freedom Materials, a supplier of gypsum and related products, continues to expand its footprint in the Mid-Atlantic with the opening of a new distribution yard here. The yard, its third location in the region in the past two years, will serve its professional builder customer in Baltimore, Washington D.C., and surround areas.

Freedom Materials sells a full line of residential and commercial products, primarily gypsum, steel, insulation, acoustical tile, millwork, windows, and cabinets.

Silvio Ferrari started Freedom Materials in 2015 in partnership with Kodiak Building Partners to build a leading drywall distribution business in the Mid-Atlantic. Its first two locations were in Newark, Del., and Greenwood, Del., in 2016.

Kodiak Building Partners was founded in 2011 to invest in housing and building-products companies. Its portfolio consists of fabricators and distributors of building products, with locations in Colorado, Texas, Michigan, Massachusetts, Delaware and Maryland.
