Coleman equipment for kids, a gift from Coleman

2/20/2018

Youth groups across the nation are getting an additional reason to head outside this summer. The Coleman Company is donating $110,000 worth of camping equipment to Scouts, Boys & Girls Club Chapters and various first-time camper programs at state parks throughout the country.

“We want to showcase the ease, excitement and affordability of camping through first-hand experiences," said Coleman president Dave Allen. "Getting people outdoors means fun and healthy living resulting in less time spent on smart phones or in front of video consoles, computer and television screens.”

Coleman is making the donation as part of its role as the founding sponsor of Great Outdoors Month, an effort to get kids and their families outside.

As part of its sponsorship, Coleman is also underwriting four Capital Camp-Outs hosted by the governors of Kansas, Colarado, Georgia and Washington, as well as one camp-out in Arkansas at Pea Ridge NMP.

Additionally, Coleman will be promoting its "get outside" message via its Ranger Days Tour, in which former outdoor professionals will camp out at Walmart stores in 20 U.S. markets, sharing tips and advice with interested parties.

“Coleman Rangers engage shoppers in conversation about the abundant outdoor resources available nearby and across the United States while also demonstrating equipment and offering personal insights," said Allen. “We want to make camping attainable. The Ranger Days Tour helps people see how easy and affordable it is to go camping and then Coleman provides everything to help them get there.”
