BMC to move HQ to ATL

2/20/2018

BMC, one of the nation’s major providers of building materials and construction services, is relocating its corporate headquarters from Boise, Idaho, to Atlanta.

The West-to-East relocation will be done on a phased basis with the executive team moving immediately, the company announced. The Boise office will continue to remain operational.

“This was a decision based on BMC‘s fast organic growth, its need to fill key management positions to support that growth and expand geographically beyond BMC’s current footprint,” said Peter Alexander, CEO of BMC. “Both management and the board were unanimous that BMC required a more central location with a larger population base and fully accessible air travel.”

BMC’s current footprint is predominately west of the Mississippi, where nine of the 10 states in which it operates are located. The tenth state is North Carolina.

The company, formerly known as Building Materials Holding Corp., has moved headquarters before -- from San Francisco where it was founded in 1987, to Boise in 2009.

BMC operates in 16 markets, eight of which are in the top 25 single-family construction markets, and has in excess of 5,000 employees.
