Jeld-Wen to close Oregon facility
Jeld-Wen plans to shutter its manufacturing site in Chiloquin, Ore., according to a WARN notice filed with the state. The company anticipates layoffs will commence starting in late June. In total, 128 workers stand to lose their jobs.
In a letter signed by the company's Executive Vice President of Human Resources Wendy Livingston, Jeld-Wen states:
"Please be advised that on May 1, 2025, JELD-WEN Inc. will begin steps to close its Chiloquin facility permanently, which is located at 31725 US-97 N, Chiloquin, OR 97624. Consistent with these plans, employees’ last day of employment will occur in waves as indicated in the enclosed attachment that includes the affected job titles and number of employees in each category. The plant closure and resulting layoff will be permanent, and bumping rights do not exist at this facility."
In an email to Oregon Live, the company stated: "While decisions that impact people are never easy, we make them only after careful consideration and with the understanding that our actions today are necessary to position Jeld-Wen for long-term success."
It's been tumultuous for the door and window manufacturer lately, having already closed a plant in Iowa earlier this year, two window plants in 2024 and enduring a court-ordered divesture of its Pennsylvania factory. The company's sales dropped 12% last year, taking a $187 million loss, and Jeld-Wen's stock has tumbled to under $6 a share.
