  • Central Garden & Pet narrows loss

    Central Garden & Pet Company had positive things to say about its performance in the first fiscal quarter of 2015: a 6% increase in sales and a narrowing of its net loss to $0.12 per share.

    “We are beginning to see signs of progress from our efforts to improve our business and better utilize our resources,” said John Ranelli, president & CEO of Central Garden & Pet. “As a result of these efforts, our operations are becoming more efficient and we are executing better.”

  • Central Garden & Pet hires two new execs

    Central Garden & Pet Company has named two new senior executives to its leadership team, effective Oct. 10.

    William Lynch has been named senior VP operations, having most recently served as senior VP global operations for Moen, Inc.

    At his previous post, he was was responsible for supply chain strategy, engineering, strategic sourcing, planning, manufacturing, logistics, quality, and customer service. He also spent over 30 years at The Clorox Company in numerous management positions.

  • CG&P CFO leaves on a good note

    Central Garden and Pet Company had a big news day on Tuesday.

    For one, its senior VP and CFO Lori Varlas announced her resignation, effective Sept. 2.

    Two, the company released its quarterly earnings report, with all indications pointing to a strong last act for Varlas.

    Net sales for the third quarter ended June 27 were up 4.9% to $459.4 million, compared to $438.0 million for the year-ago period.

    Meanwhile, net income took a big leap from $4.7 million last year to $18.8 million in 2015.
