The Hillman Cos. agreed to buy Toronto-based fastener distributor H. Paulin & Co. for $103.7 million (C$103 million).

“We are excited to become an integral part of the Hillman organization,” said Richard Paulin, who will continue as president of the new division of Hillman Canada. “This acquisition joins two great and complementary industry leaders with over 140 years of combined fastener knowledge.”

The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2013.

New Britain, Conn.-based Stanley Black & Decker President and CEO John Lundgren will present at the Bank Of America Merrill Lynch Global Industrials Conference on Wednesday, Dec. 15th, 2010 at 1:25 pm eastern standard time.

R&H Ace Hardware in the Hanover Mall, in Hanover Township, Pa., has closed, according to an article in the Citizens’ Voice. The landlord is in talks with other companies to take its place.

There are two signs on the door: One says the store is closed, while the other sign is a lockout notice.

In Kensington, Md., 90-year-old Mizell Lumber and Hardware, a company that once delivered plywood to the White House in a wagon drawn by horses, closed over the weekend.

One owner, Jeannine Mizell, described the struggles as a "slow death," according to a report at MyFoxdc.com.

Sulphur Springs, Texas — “Let me show you something.”


That’s how an employee at Fix & Feed Sulphur Springs Hardware greeted a reporter who was visiting the store about 80 miles east of Dallas on a hot July weekday. She marched to a back room of the 20,000-sq.-ft. hardware store to a door marked “Keep this door closed at all times,” and led the visitor inside. 


“Here is where we make the fudge,” she said.
