True Value to help spruce up 60 schools
This summer, 60 schools across the country will receive up to 40 gallons of free paint to refresh their learning environments -- courtesy of True Value.
These schools were selected from more than 250 applicants to receive paint grants as part of True Value Foundation’s “Painting a Brighter Future” program.
This is the first year for the Foundation’s grant program, which is designed to help schools create a renewed atmosphere for teaching and learning. Without the grant, many of the recipient schools could not afford to undertake the paint jobs, True Value said.
True Value retailers participated in the program by identifying elementary, junior high or high schools in their neighborhoods that met basic qualifications and encouraged the schools to apply for the paint grants, which were awarded based on need.
“This program gives our retailers the opportunity to directly improve the quality of educational facilities within their hometowns,” said Brian Webb, president of True Value Foundation and chairman of True Value.
The True Value Foundation was established in 2008 to enable True Value retailers to help young people and adults in their communities through educational and social support. Primary funding for the foundation is generated through the proceeds of the True Value Charity Classic, the co-op’s annual business partner-supported fundraising event.
