The percentage of home improvement consumers who said their project shopping included a home improvement warehouse such as Home Depot or Lowe’s in the most recent 12-month period increased to 92% in 2015, up from 88% in 2013.

Those shopping discount stores slipped from 54% to 51% in 2015.

The Farnsworth Group study – Channel Shopping Behavior Among DIYers and Professionals – was published November 2015.

Other types of outlets that showed gains from 2013 to 2015 were building supply dealers/lumberyards, plumbing supply stores, flooring stores and paint stores.
