Orchard Supply to close unit

2/20/2018

Orchard Supply Hardware will close its San Lorenzo store early next year, according to an article in the San Jose Mercury News. Located on the east side of the San Francisco Bay, San Lorenzo has suffered through an economic downturn that resulted in a number of shuttered storefronts, according to the report.

A spokesman for the company, which operates 88 home improvement stores in California, would not give a specific reason for the closure.

“We are constantly doing store evaluations. It's not that there was one thing that led to the decision," marketing director Rick Saunders told the newspaper. He added that the San Jose-based chain plans to extensively remodel its San Leandro location after the first of the year, as well as other units in the San Jose area.

San Leandro is approximately two miles from the store slated for closure.
