Costello’s good deed appears on shelves

2/15/2019
Costello’s Ace Hardware, the 30-store hardware chain based in New York’s Long Island, is bringing to its shelves a line of ECO cleaners with a heart-warming back story. The products are packaged by individuals with special needs. Plus, proceeds from the sale of each bottle will support the good cause.

Costello’s partnered with Family Residences and Essential Enterprises to sell a line of eco-friendly cleaners supplied and packed by individuals with special needs supported by FREE, and The Rehabilitation Institute (TRI), a member of the FREE Network. The TRI Go-Green line of cleaners will be sold at stores located in Bellmore, Nesconset and Melville.

“Costello’s is fortunate for the opportunity to partner with FREE in a way that supports the amazing commitment they have made to people with special needs in our local community,” said Michael Costello, CEO, Costello’s. “Our founder, Vincent Costello built a culture of problem solving, community service and championing purposeful causes. The entire Costello’s Ace family looks forward to continuing in Vinnie’s footsteps by recommending TRI Go-Green cleaning products to our customers and sharing the FREE story.”

TRI is a not-for-profit organization funded through Nassau County and New York State that, for over 50 years has evaluated, trained and placed individuals with diverse challenges into competitive employment.  Providing hands-on training is crucial in helping them find employment in a job market with a 9.2% unemployment rate for individuals with disabilities.

“All of us at FREE are excited about this new business partnership with Costello’s Ace Hardware,” said Robert S. Budd, CEO, FREE. “This partnership will allow FREE and TRI to continue providing jobs, and job training, to the individuals we are proud to serve, thus helping our individuals become self-reliant members of society,” he continued. Costello’s Ace Hardware will be the first retail outlet to offer the TRI Go-Green line of cleaners.

The line of cleaning products are earth friendly --even the heavy duty spray tops are made up of 100% post-consumer, recycled plastic, the company said. TRI Go-Green offers Citrusolve, an all-natural degreaser; Crystal Clear, a no streak glass, mirror and chrome cleaner; Speedy Clean, a floor cleaner, odor eliminator, grease digester; Arrex 100, one of the most powerful disinfectants / sanitizers on the market today and Marvelous, an all-purpose cleaner.

Costello’s Ace Hardware was founded by Vincent “Vinnie” Costello in 1976 as a single hardware store and has grown to more than 30 stores throughout Long Island, northern New Jersey, Maryland and Brooklyn, N.Y.
