Ames True Temper swings to profit
Ames True Temper, a leading manufacturer of gardening hand tools, has reported net income of $3.4 million for the fourth quarter of 2009, compared to a net loss of $21.9 million for the same quarter of 2008. Net sales for the quarter were $87.5 million, a 7.8% decrease over $94.9 million a year ago. The period ended on Oct. 3, 2009.

“Operating income and adjusted EBITDA improved in both Q4 and fiscal 2009 over [the] prior year,” said president and CEO Duane Greenly in a prepared statement. “In light of the continued weak demand, we are pleased with our operating performance for Q4 and 2009.”
Headquartered in Camp Hill, Pa., Ames True Temper makes long and short-handled garden tools, wheelbarrows, hoses, hose reels, and other landscaping products sold through national chains and independent retailers.
