For Harbor Freight, a flurry of new stores
Now with over 1,600 stores throughout the U.S., Harbor Freight continues to expand.
The month of May has been no exception for the Calabasas, Calif-based retailer with a knack for low-priced tools and viral hardware accoutrement. In fact, the company opened the doors at five locations in May, including: Hiram, Ga.; Victor, N.Y.; Farmville, Va.; Provo, Utah; and in Bessemer, Ala.
Despite keeping a somewhat lowkey profile, at least in terms of corporate messaging and high-level, splashy mass marketing, the company now boasts nearly as many locations as rivals like Lowe's (1,752 stores), Home Depot (2,015 stores) and Tractor Supply (2,200+ locations). It also reported total sales of roughly $8 billion in 2024, which is not far off Ace Hardware's full-year revenues of $9.5 billion for the same year.
In addition to May's five openings, the company also inked deals to open three more stores in coming months (in Roseville, Calif.; Okatie, S.C.; and Commerce, Ga.).
As for its most recent openings, Hiram represents the 58th Harbor Freight store in Georgia, while the Victor location is the brand's 71st New York brick-and-mortar.
Farmville, meanwhile is the company's 40th Virginia location. Provo is its 17th Utah store, and Bessemer is its 32nd location in Alabama.
