Elkay closing Illinois plant
The plumbing manufacturer abruptly shutters its facility in Savanna.
Chicago-based Elkay, which has been in business since 1920, is closing its factory in Savanna, Ill. According to a WARN notice filed with the state of Illinois, layoffs began in April and will continue throughout the end of the year.
The company has not issued a statement regarding the closure, though it listed "consolidation" under the "event causes" tab of the WARN notice.

Elkay manufactures faucets, bottle filling stations, drinking fountains and foodservice products. In 2021, the facility in Savanna marked the production of its one millionth water bottle refilling station.
According to the WARN notice, 135 workers' jobs will be affected by the plant closure.
