In Indonesia, Do it Best shows growth
Do it Best Corp. announced the soft opening of the first four Pongs Do it Best Home Centers in Jakarta, Indonesia, earlier this month.
With the openings in Indonesia, the Fort Wayne, Ind.-based co-op expanded its customer base to 50 countries.
“The opening of these stores, with plans for more ahead, will add significantly to our presence in the region,” said Bob Taylor, president and CEO of Do it Best Corp., who was in Jakarta for the openings. “The most important step for Do it Best Corp. is finding the right independent retailers to partner with in our international markets, people with strong leadership skills and a demonstrated track record of success in their marketplace. Our exclusive partner in Indonesia, Paulus Ong, is a great example of exactly that important combination.”
Ong recently signed an agreement with Do it Best Corp. to develop the Do it Best brand in Indonesia, and the opening of these stores is the first step in a long-term growth plan with Do it Best Corp. in the country.
The first four Pongs Do it Best Home Centers in Jakarta encompass more than 100,000 sq. ft. of combined retail space. Ong’s five-year plan is to open a total of 40 Do it Best stores consisting of three formats – convenience stores, super stores and hyper stores – covering a total of 500,000 sq. ft.
