California begins treated wood waste variance process

The West Coast Lumber & Building Material Association reported that the California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) is now accepting disposal facility variance applications for treated wood waste (TWW). 

The DTSC’s website lists a $1,870.12 reimbursement payment for the disposal facility variance application. 

The remaining variance types will be accepted on Feb. 19  after the conclusion of a second webinar on treated wood waste variances, provided by the DTSC.

TWW variance rates in the state are being provided in the following categories:

  • Small quantity generator, self-transporter;
  • Large quantity generator, self-transporter; 
  • Transporter; 
  • Handler and transporter.
