Beacon looks to award veterans
Beacon, the roofing and building products distributor, is now accepting nominations for its second annual Beacon of Hope contest.
The program provides deserving veteran homeowners with new roofs with nominations being accepted now through Sept. 24.
The Herndon, Va.-based company said that it is teaming up with veteran-friendly roofing companies to deliver and install all necessary roof repairs and replacements to three veteran homes. In addition, seven runners-up will receive $2,500 to help complete the necessary repairs.
“Veterans who have served our country often face adversity in the years following their service,” said Eric Swank, Beacon’s chief operating officer. “We created the Beacon of Hope contest to give back to our veterans across the country who have an essential need: a safe place to live. This contest is intended to inspire communities to come together and provide the hope and recognition our veterans deserve.”
The public can nominate a U.S. veteran facing adversity on the Beacon of Hope website or submit an e-mail to [email protected]. Nominations must include a photo and short bio of the veteran that includes their military branch, years of service, and why the nominee is deserving of a new roof.
In early October, 10 finalists will be announced and the public will have an opportunity to vote for their favorite finalists. Beacon will announce the winners and runners-up on Veterans Day.
